The purpose of DHS is to identify, develop, and ultimately secure and enforce effective security in high-risk chemical industries. Included in this responsibility is the requirement in the chemical industry to handle chemicals according to a threshold amount and submit an SVA for DHS review and approval along with a Site Safety Plan (SSP).
